Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park has a fairly mild climate year round. In the Summer it is really warm the average temperature is anywhere from 90°F - 96°F. This makes Summer not an ideal time to visit, "hot humid air mixed with physical activity make for an uncomfortable camping experience. Spring or Fall is the perfect time to go and many other tourist agree. The average temperatures in the foot hills range from 55°F - 67° F, allowing your family to have tons of fun hiking and sight seeing without becoming uncomfortable. In winter temperatures can be anywhere from 18°F - 36°F also it tends to rain frequently in winter. From early January - May the average amount of rain is about 26 inches.
